Why Turon Triangulo Is So Delicious?

Turon Triagulo is a bit different from all other snacks and street food. While many other street food options are spicy, this is sweet with caramelized banana. Its texture, flavor, and everything else are perfect.

Crispy Texture:

The spring roll wrappers are used to wrap around the filling in a triangle shape; then, it goes into the hot oil for deep-frying, making the exterior of Turon crispy.

Sweet Flavor:

When you take a bite, you’ll first experience the crispy texture, then the creamy fillings of saba bananas and jackfruit. The brown sugar that’s also added takes the sweetness to a whole new level.

Perfectness:

What makes Turon Triangulo stand out is how it balances all these elements perfectly. The crispiness of the wrapper, the softness of the banana, the chewiness of the jackfruit, and the overall sweetness.

Let’s Make Turon Triangulo at Home

Here’s a simple step-by-step guide about making Turon Triagulo at home.

Key-Ingredients:

  • 6 large saba bananas (cut lengthwise)
  • 6 pieces jackfruit (cut lengthwise)
  • 200 grams of brown sugar
  • 24 tablespoons pinipig kalamay
  • 12 spring roll pastry sheets (large)
  • Oil

Cooking Instructions:

  • Grab your spring roll wrapper and lay it out flat on a clean surface, positioning it so that it looks like a diamond shape in front of you. This little trick will make it easier to fold into that signature triangle shape we’re after.
  • Add 2 tbsp of pinipig kalamay, and place half a piece of saba banana and half jackfruit in the center of the wrapper, making sure not to overstuff it – we want a nice, even distribution of filling.
  • Start by folding the bottom corner of the wrapper over the filling, then fold in the left and right corners to create an envelope-like shape.
  • Once you’ve got your triangle shape, seal the edges with a bit of water to make sure nothing escapes during frying. Repeat this process with the rest of your ingredients until you’ve got a beautiful batch of uncooked Turon Triangulo.
  • Heat up your oil in a deep-frying pan or wok and wait till it reaches 180 degrees, then add brown sugar and Turon Triangulo for deep-fry.  Carefully slide your Turon Triangulo into the hot oil, frying them in batches so you don’t overcrowd the pan.
  • Keep an eye on them as they fry, turning them occasionally to ensure they cook evenly on all sides. You’re looking for that perfect golden-brown color that screams, “eat me now!” It usually takes about a few minutes per side, but trust your eyes more than the clock.
  • Once they’re done, let them cool for a few minutes, then serve them while they’re still warm and crispy.
