Let’s Make the Roasted Beef With Gravy

After days of research, I’ve finally found out how this mouth-watering dish is made in restaurants. Let’s learn about it!

Key-Ingredients:

Marination:

  • Chuck/brisket/round meat – 1kg
  • Worcestershire sauce – 1/4 cup
  • Liquid seasoning – 1 tablespoon

Roasting Beef:

  • Medium onions, quartered – 4
  • Whole garlic cloves – 8
  • Bay leaves – 3
  • Salt – to taste
  • Dried rosemary – to taste
  • Black pepper – to taste
  • Oil – 2 tablespoons

Making Sauce:

  • Hot water – 2 cups
  • Beef bouillon cubes – 2
  • All-purpose cream – 1/2 carton
  • Button mushrooms (pieces, and stems) – 400g
  • Flour – 1 1/2 tablespoons
  • Water – 2 tablespoons
  • Salt and pepper – to taste (optional)

Cooking Instructions:

Marination of Beef

  1. Place round meat in a ziplock bag.
  2. Add Worcestershire sauce and liquid seasoning to the bag and seal it. After sealing, mix the Worcestershire sauce and liquid seasoning, ensuring the meat is fully covered.
  3. Refrigerate the ziplock bag overnight.

Roasting Beef

  1. Take out the meat from the fridge and let it come to room temperature.
  2. Apply dried rosemary to the meat and add pepper.
  3. Preheat oven to 275°F (135°C).
  4. Heat a pan on high flame and add oil to sear all sides of meat.
  5. When the meat’s color has started to change and it’s cooked perfectly, remove it from the pan.
  6. Prepare an aluminum foil tray with a lid, and place quartered onions, whole garlic cloves, and bay leaves.
  7. Put seared meat on top of vegetables and pour marinade and beef broth over the meat. Cover the aluminum foil tray with a lid or foil and place it in the oven to bake for 3 hours.

Making Creamy Mushroom Gravy

  1. After 3 hours, take out the tray and wait until the meat and beef broth cool.
  2. Once cool, remove the roasted beef from the tray and put the remaining broth, garlic cloves, and onion pieces in the blender.
  3. Blend them to make gravy, then simmer over low flame. Add all-purpose cream and mushrooms, stirring until well mixed.
  4. Lastly, add all-purpose flour mixed in water and stir well. After a few minutes, turn off the stove.

Serving

  1. Cut the roasted beef into slices and serve with gravy, either separately or poured over the sliced beef.
